Steve Lundquist Aquatic Center at the Ji, 9045 Tara Blvd, Jonesboro, GA 30236, USA

About the event

Birth problems can significantly interfere with the initiation of breastfeeding due to physical, emotional, and medical challenges that arise during or after labor. Doulas are often the first point of contact for their clients for breastfeeding initiation. Being prepared for common challenges is what separates you from the pool of birth workers in your community.

By the end of this workshop, doulas will:

  • Understand the basics of lactation physiology and breastfeeding.

  • Recognize common breastfeeding challenges and solutions.

  • Learn how to support clients in initiating and sustaining breastfeeding.

  • Know when and how to refer clients to lactation consultants or other professionals
